MEDITATION-PART I

August 3, 2009

The word ‘meditation’ often distills a sense of deeper relaxation into one’s mind and it helps us to get beyond the normal reflexive mind of the human beings. It leads people to find peace within them and helps them to achieve a relaxed or peaceful mind and a good health. It is practiced even outside religious traditions and encompasses a wide range of meditative disciplines. Through meditation, one can discover the flow of thoughts in his mind, what triggers it and experience a sharp vision of it. The quality of observation, the quality of being aware and alert-that’s what the meditation is. Meditation simply signifies awareness. In today’s world, every individual should become familiar with awareness. Action is not the question, but the quality that you bring to your action. For instance, listening to the birds can be a meditation if you listen with awareness. Just listening to the inner voice of the mind can be a meditation if you remain alert and watchful. Therefore it can also be said that watching is meditation. The point here is, one should not move in sleep. Then whatsoever you do is meditation.
